Lots of snow in 1948 at 3509 Durnin Rd home of Marcell and Lillian Pirart. Home was destroyed by fire in 2016

The Pirart kids at Durnin and Maxey Rd Bridge in 1948. Many Fire practises over the years have taken place here. Note the lack of railings. Just wide enough for a car !!

Do you remember this house? It was Jim and Kathleen Russell's on East Wellington rd. In the late 70's it was removed and became the parking lot for Mountain View School.

George Paine Sawmill fire at 2334 East Wellington Rd July 26 1986. It is now the home of Vancouver Island University Horticulture Centre.

East Wellington Air raid Patrol / Fire Hall 1948 . Later in the 60's became horse barn for Russell family on corner of East Wellington and Durnin Rd

Joe Barry's Blacksmith shop located at the corner of East Wellington and Westwood Road .In the 50's and 60's was used by the farmers,fire department and residents of the community. Having no children he played Santa Clause for many families in our area.

Long time firemen Wayne Morgan ( left)and Steve Ellis have had roads dedicated to their family names within a new subdivision in our community off Shady Mile Way. It was presented to them at Fireman's Christmas party in December 2018.

Bench build by neighbors of Durnin and Maxey roads in memory of Gord Bush at Durnin Road Bridge. Great place to rest when at the river.
